Yesterday, after attending an event for the new Pretty Little Liars movie at Warner Bros. Studio, we were offered to take a guided tour of the Warner Bros. Studio Hollywood location. Of course, we jumped at that offer and took the tour! It was pretty exciting to see, because the place is a huge, working studio, with filming of different shows going on all around.
Warner Bros. Studio has been making movies on this 110-acre property, using both outdoor sets and huge indoor sound-stages, for almost 100 years, and the history and legacy of the place is amazing! Our wonderful tour guide Stephanie drove us all around in a handy open tram and explained the “behind the scenes history and “magic” of making movies, and how movie-makers can change the outward appearance of the sets to look like many different types of buildings. Some of the recent productions filmed there include Gilmore Girls, The Big Bang Theory and Argo — but over the decades the same sets have appeared in Maltese Falcon, Batman movies, and countless other famous and classic films.
And Red Bear especially loved going into the Batman Museum — the Batmobile collection and all the other vehicles are so cool!
We also really enjoyed browsing through the huge warehouse of props — almost half a million of them! — that are used in all the movies and shows made there. We really came to appreciate the creativity and artistry involved in making films!
